On April 17, the Social Work Department held its annual luncheon to thank its field supervisors for the important role that they play in social work education, to present awards, and to induct new members into Phi Alpha, the national undergraduate social work honor society. Janine Mariscotti, Assistant Professor of Social Work, presented the Sister Ruth Mahar Grace & Grit Award to Beth Wood, in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement while raising children as a single parent. Dr. Bonni H. Zetick, Assistant Professor of Social Work, presented the Heart of Gold award (presented only the second time in five years) to Jonathan Harmon, LSW, Co-chair of the Social Work Advisory Board, for his vision and leadership over the past seventeen years. Kaitlyn Roche, president of the La Salle’s chapter of Phi Alpha, presided over the induction of members from the Class of 2012.
