Personal Statement:
I firmly believe in the LaSallian values of blending theory and practice and the importance of personal interaction between student and teacher. To that end, I try to create courses that incorporate practical applications, such as case studies and discussions of real-world events with a sound theoretical base of knowledge. I also try to engage students in an interactive learning process as well as meeting regularly with them outside of class to, well, chat.
Instructional Responsibilities:
- Graduate and Undergraduate Financial Markets and Institutions
- Graduate and Undergraduate Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management
- Global Financial Services Course involving a trip to London
I also supervise the University’s Investment Club, which gives interested students hands-on experience in managing an investment portfolio.
Research Activities:
My main areas of interest in research involve financial markets, especially those involving mortgages. Recent publications include:
- “Residential Mortgage Origination Fees: Historical Trends and Analysis”. Real Estate Review, Vol. 35 #1, 39-60. With Joshua Buch, 2006.
- “Home Buying Preferences of Adjustable Rate Mortgage Borrowers”. The Real Estate Finance Journal, Fall, 2005, 60-68., with Joshua Buch 2005.
- “Ten New Countries are Joining the EU: Housing Market and Mortgage Lending Implications”. The Real Estate Finance Journal, (Spring), 79-86. , with Joshua Buch, 2004.
- “Population, Dwelling Characteristics and Mortgage Availability in 21 Industrialized Countries. The Real Estate Finance Journal, (Fall), 84-92., with Joshua Buch, and William Stewart, 2002.
