School of Nursing Faculty member Patti R. Zuzelo, EdD, APRN, BC, CNS will be presenting "Affirming the Disadvantaged Student" at the National League of Nursing conference in Orlando this fall.

This presentation, originally titled "Affirming Stategies for Disadvantaged Student,was previously presented at the the Pennsylvania League for Nursing, and is under consideration as a paper by Nurse Educator, a journal that focuses on Nursing Education.

Associate Professor Zuzelo's presentation focuses on the college preparatory & college entry challenges faced by economically disadvantaged students, the implications for nurse educators, and possible solutions that can assist students and educators in the teaching and learning process.

This is considered to be a hot topic in healthcare (and other career fields) as many educators are committed to the success of disadvantaged students as well as the possibilities offered by this type of student to the nursing profession and healthcare environment.
