The second edition of The Clinical Nurse Specialist Handbook written by Dr. Patti Zuzelo, Professor of Nursing, was published last month by Jones and Bartlett Publishers. Contributors include the School of Nursing and Health Sciences’ Dr Gerry Altmiller, Dr. Janice Beitz, and Dean Zane Wolf. New to this edition is Altmiller's piece that addresses the education of new-to-practice nurses, as well as experienced nurses, on quality and safety evidence-based practices designed to avoid errors and minimize risk. The first edition of Zuzelo's handbook won the 2007 American Journal of Nursing's Book of the Year Award in the advanced practice nursing category.
