Dr. C Woodruff Starkweather, Lecturer in the SLHS Program, received the 2010 Malcolm Fraser Award on January 29 in recognition of excellence in the field of stuttering. This award was given by The Stuttering Foundation of America and the Special Interest Division for Fluency and Fluency Disorders of the American Speech-Language-Hearing-Association. Dr. Barbara Amster, Director of the SLHS Program, who nominated Starkweather, described him as “an individual whose contributions over more than 40 years have promoted and enhanced the public and professional understanding of the nature of stuttering and its treatment." She added, "Many of the books and articles he has written are now classics in the field of speech-language pathology." Pictured are Amster with Starkweather at the award ceremony.
