What is it EARS?
EARS stands for the Early Alert Referral System. It is a communication tool that assists faculty
in alerting freshman advisors about students who are exhibiting "at risk" behaviors.

How to use EARS

For Faculty

  • Log on to mylasalle
  • Click on the Academic Services tab
  • Click on the EARS channel (upper right hand corner)
  • Click on Initial Report
  • Select Semester
  • Select appropriate course and section
  • Select student’s name that you would like to file a report on
  • Fill out the appropriate items on the form

Where does the EARS report go?

Your initial report will be sent to the student’s La Salle email address, their Freshman Advisor and, if applicable, to an advisor in Athletics, Honors Program, ADP, and/or AEP.

What happens next?

Students have been instructed, if they receive an EARS report, to contact their professor immediately to see how they can work towards succeeding in the class. The Freshman Advisor will also contact the student to offer them guidancel, assistance, and possible referral to available university resources. Once the Freshman Advisor has helped the student in resolving the issue, they will close the report

 

For Freshman Advisors
  • Log on to mylasalle
  • Click on the Academic Services tab
  • Click on the EARS channel (upper right hand corner)
  • Click on Open Records
  • Select the student and date of initial report (there may be multiple reports)
  • Read the Initial Report
  • Take action and file an Action Taken Form on selected Initial Report
  • When you feel the issued is resolved, close the record. You will receive notification that record is closed.
