In complement to the current special interest housing options,
such as Honors Program and Winter Sport Athletes, we invite
proposals for new Residential Learning Communities (RLCs)
for 2008-2009.
Students interested in developing a new RLC will need to submit a New group Proposal by Feb. 29, 2008. In addition, interested students should submit their Housing Applications by the same University deadline of Feb. 29, 2008, indicate their RLC interest on their Housing Applications, and then follow the steps outlined in this application.
These new RLCs will be specially set-aside residential areas in St. Katharine Hall where students, with the guideance of faculty or staff mentors, will live with other students of similar academic or extracurricular interests, following the development and acceptance of formal proposals. Facilities improvements for St. Katharine Hall will include the installation of AIR CONDITIONING in the entire facility and WIRELESS CAPABILITY in all nine (9) lounge spaces. Both projects will be completed for students' arrival in the fall.
Funds will be made available to help RLCs
develop related activities and events for themselves and
the University community and to compensate the student and
faculty/staff mentors. The students whose RLC proposals are accepted will
be directly assigned to areas designated in
St. Katharine Hall, regardless of housing priority points.
New group proposals are available on-line or
in the Administrative Services office in Union #205. The
deadline for new group proposals is on Monday,
February 29, 2008. For more details, please review the details of
the Residential Learning Communities New Group Proposal document.
