Co-ops
at La Salle University
"This was the best decision I made for my education. No
class or single instructor has ever given me an assignment that
equals actual on the job training."
-Accounting major
SET YOURSELF APART FROM THE CROWD
"When you are talking about a co-op, you're talking about
concrete and practical experience. The co-op experience is one where
you're actually going to experience what's going on in Corporate
America. You've been there, and now you have one up on others competing
for that entry-level position."
-Senior Consultant, Cigna Corporation
A co-op gives employers a reason to give you a second look. Employers
need to know that you can handle responsibility, respond well to
stress, learn quickly and work hard. A co-op position is one of
the best ways to prove these skills to an employer
Co-ops are full-time (or part-time) paid positions that allow you
to get academic credit while receiving valuable work experience.
Each work period lasts from 3 to 6 months and you will receive 3
credits towards your degree for each work period.
MAKE MONEY WHILE EARNING CREDIT
Co-ops allow you to:
- Earn money to help pay for your college expenses
- Gain valuable experience that will help you enhance your opportunities
for postgraduate employment
- Possibly receive a full time offer prior to graduation
- Receive academic credit towards your degree
- Learn more about the "real" work world outside the classroom
- Reinforce or redefine your career goals by working in a position
related to your major and/or occupational interests
- Develop the maturity, confidence and experience necessary to secure
full-time employment
"I believe that choosing a co-op at La Salle was the best
decision I have made in my short business career. I have received
a position and starting salary that would not have been offered
to me if it were not for my professional experience."
- Finance major
PAST CO-OP STUDENTS TELL IT BEST
"An excellent experience!"
-Marketing major
"It
is one of the best career moves and the best experience you can
get out of college."
-HRM major
".,.Besides
the technical training, the experience of interacting with co-workers
in a professional environment is surely challenging. The student
learns how to deal with and adapt to different and sometimes conflicting
personality types. On the whole, the co-op assignment was a helpful
experience."
-Biology major
"
I learned more in this co-op than in 3 years of classes, and also
was allowed to show what I could do."
-Accounting major
