EAGLES vs. Patriots

Super Bowl 2005

Preparing for Safe Celebrations

Many members of the La Salle University community are excited about the Philadelphia Eagles playing in the Super Bowl this year.  We want to be supportive of community members and those around them during and following the game.

What you need to do:

·        Be respectfully aware of those around you and celebrate in a manner that does not disturb others or damage property.  University policies will be enforced.

·        Be aware that large, highly emotional crowds may be very unpredictable.  Please only approach them with great caution, especially if they are not familiar to you.  Dangerous “mob” behavior has occurred recently in this type of circumstance and needs to be avoided for personal safety, as well as legal and policy violation consequences.

·        Alert La Salle University Safety and Security, Division of Student Affairs staff members, or Philadelphia Police if you become aware of any concerns.  Give staff the chance to stop a situation from getting worse.

·        Demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during and after the game.  Many members of the La Salle University community are Patriots fans and they should feel welcome in the community.

What University staff and others have done:

·        Sunday Liturgy will be moved from 6:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on February 6th (Super Bowl Sunday) in anticipation of conflicts for some community members.

·        University Safety and Security and Division of Student Affairs staff will be on a heightened level of alert to insure the safety of everyone in and around the University community.

·        Philadelphia Police have developed a plan for responding to locations where they predict large crowds may gather.

Together, let’s insure that Eagles success this season leads to safe and enjoyable celebrations for all, regardless of the outcome of the game on Sunday!

Fly Eagles, Fly…
