ARTICLE IV. Elections
Section 1: Only full-time undergraduate students in the Day Division may be elected to the Senate.
Section 2: No student may be elected President of the Students’ Government Association unless he/she is a full-time undergraduate student in the Day Division and has served for one (1) term as an elected Senator or Executive Officer. No student may be elected President and serve concurrently as a Resident Assistant/Community Assistant during his/her term as President. No student who will be studying abroad or participating in a co-op or student teaching full time during the term may be elected President.
Section 3: No student may be elected Executive Vice-President of Student Affairs, unless he/she is a full-time undergraduate student in the Day Division and has served for one (1) term as an elected Senator or Executive Officer.
Section 4: Only full-time undergraduate students in the Day Division may be elected Vice-President of Academic, Business or Public Affairs.
Section 5: The Senate shall have the authority to prescribe a Grade Point Average requirement for election to any office, provided that it is no greater than a cumulative average of 3.0, and not less than the minimum requirement as established in University Policy. No change in a Grade Point Average requirement shall take effect until the next general election. The Advisor to the SGA may waive any GPA requirement for election upon presentation of just cause, and with the consent of the Executive Board.
Section 6: The Senate shall have authority to prescribe a Code of Election, provided that said Code ensures the equal application of rules and regulations for all candidates seeking election to the Senate or Executive Board, and said Code does not conflict with any provision of the Constitution or promulgated University Policy.
