Student
Residences
In 1953,
La Salle University opened the first of our student residences. Most
of our residences have been named after Saints of the Roman Catholic
Church who hold special places in the histories of the Christian Brothers
and/or Catholic education.
The North
Halls Complex is located at 20th Street and Olney Avenue. It consists
of eight buildings; Saints Albert, Bernard, Cassian, Denis, George,
Hilary, Jerome, and Katherine Halls. These residences offer triple,
double, and single units. Saint Katherine Hall also features a small
number of quads, units composed of double bedrooms connected by semi-private
bathrooms.
All of
the residences have single-gender floors, shared shower/bathroom areas
on each floor, laundry facilities, a mailroom, telephone, cable television,
and Internet/campus network access. Saints Edward and Francis Halls
and Saint Neumann Hall are located near the western and southern campus
boundaries, respectively, and offer facilities similar to those in
the north halls.
There
are two apartment complexes: La Salle Apartments and Saint Teresa
Court. All contain units that house either
three or four residents, with a full bathroom, kitchen, and living
area. Laundry, mail, telephone, cable television, and Internet/campus
network access services differ slightly in these complexes. Contact
us for details.
The Saint
Miguel Townhouses are available to upper division students. Each unit
houses five students, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a full
kitchen/living area. Residents also have access to laundry, mailroom,
and vending facilities. In addition, each unit has telephone, cable
television, and Internet/campus network access.
Housing
Services
The Administrative
Services staff is committed to assisting students with housing assignments,
room change requests, and related matters and to ensuring accurate
reporting of and responses to residential maintenance and repair needs.
They
also supervise the operations of the residential mailrooms and the
residential security booths. The latter, at the North Halls Complex,
Saints Edward and Francis Halls, the Saint Miguel Complex, and Saint
Neumann Hall, are staffed by a team of Security Desk Receptionists
(SDRs) and are operated twenty-four hours per day, seven days per
week when classes are in session.
Community
Development
The residence
halls and apartments at La Salle University are more than simply places
to sleep. Through the Leading Strong Communities program, Community
Development staff members create educational and social opportunities
for students living in the residence halls and apartments. The goal
of Leading Strong Communities is to help students learn to live as
members of a community by investing themselves in the community and
the people with whom they live.
The Resident
Student Association (RSA) is one of the best means for a student to
get involved in the residential community at La Salle. Each residential
area has its own government that reports to the larger executive board.
RSA creates social outlets for students and helps them improve the
quality of life in the residence halls and apartments.
Students
are responsible for helping to maintain an environment in the residence
halls conducive to the educational goals of all students by following
University policies and regulations. Students living in the residence
halls are also expected to help their peers understand the importance
of the residence hall environment to the educational goals of each
student. Professional and paraprofessional staff members are available
to assist students in this endeavor. Specific details about policies
and procedures may be found in the Student Guide to Rights and Responsibilities,
available in hard copy and on our website.
