Why did you choose La Salle?
I loved La Salle from my very first visit. I like the location of the campus, the small size, and the close-knit community. Coming from an extremely close family and a high school where I knew everyone, community has always been a prominent aspect of my life. I wanted to attend a college where I would be able to know my professors, advisors, and fellow students personally, and where I could see the same friendly faces each day.
The service scholar program was another reason I choose La Salle. The existence of such a program is a testament to La Salle’s commitment to service. Prior to officially choosing La Salle I was hearing about the scholar family; being a part of that family has been one of the greatest experiences in college thus far.
What can you say about service at La Salle?
Service is a paramount part of La Sallian life. There are a plethora of service groups on campus with many students serving actively. I have met new friends through service and have been inspired by the commitment of my fellow students to serving those in need. The coordinators of various service projects are so dedicated to their groups and give the service experience a new energy. There are various types of service going on each day for La Salle students.
What sets a Community Service Scholar apart on campus?
Service scholars form a close support group for one another. I feel blessed to be a part of the “scholar family.” Beginning opening weekend all, of the scholars were welcoming and supporting and made the transition to college that much easier. The interaction of the scholars truly resembles a family. Each member brings a new perspective to the group, while the group as a whole supports each member. I have found mentors and friends in all the scholars.
