Why did you choose La Salle?
When I spent a weekend here as part of my official visit for baseball, everyone on campus was so nice and respectable. The teaches were very genuine and the students in the classes were studious. I also liked the players on the baseball team which helped out a lot. The fact that La Salle was also in Philadelphia helped the cause because I came from a Catholic high school in New York City and I loved the city atmosphere. I knew I made the right decision in coming to La Salle though when I met the Communtiy Service Scholars and realized how they were the ones involved with mostly everything on campus.
What can you say about service at La Salle?
Coming from a Jesuit High School, service played a very big part in my life; yet, I thought in college I would be the only one. When I came into La Salle in August, I found it to be the complete opposite. Students from all years and majors were very involved with service trips and activities. It was not just the Scholars who were going out to do service and going on trips out of the country. Also, the fact that my peers run the activities make them even more enjoyable. I can honestly say that I look forward to doing service with my friends because we have a great time doing it.
What sets a Community Service Scholar apart on campus?
Being a part of the Scholar family is just like being a part of the baseball team for me. Both provide me with excellent friends and a sense of support and leadership. It is like being in a brotherhood almost because everyone in the group wants to help out. These scholars are some of the nicest people that I have met in my life and I am so happy to be in this family.
