Why won’t the portal open in my browser? Why do I get a warning that my browser is outdated?

There are some browsers that aren’t compatible with Luminis, the software that runs the portal. If you have an older browser (and get the outdated warning) you may still be able to access the portal by clicking “continue” but some of the features may not work properly. It is recommend that you use a recent version of Internet Explorer as your browser. Here is a list of compatible browsers for the portal:

  • Netscape: Windows and Macintosh* 4.79, 6.2
Netscape 6.0 and 7.x are not supported
  • MS Internet Explorer: Windows 5.5, 6.0 and Macintosh 5.1
  • AOL Browser: Windows 6*, 7 and Macintosh 4, 5
  • For Macintosh users, Netscape version 4.79 is supported on OS9. Version 6.2 is supported on OS9 and OSX.

*The AOL browser is built on top of Internet Explorer and relies on the version of IE that is installed on the client machine. AOL users must be running with a version of IE that is supported by the Luminis software (5.5 or 6.0).

Is the mylasalle portal secure? Can other people see my information?

Yes, the portal is secure. As long as you don't share your username and password with anyone, you are the only person who can access your personal information through the portal. To increase the security of your personal information, be sure to always logout of the portal when you are finished using it (especially when you are on a public computer). Also, changing your password on a regular basis (perhaps every 3-6 months) is a good security practice.

Why I am I having difficulty accessing WebCT from my place of employment?

If you are trying to access WebCT from your workplace and the login screen does not appear when you click the Web CT icon in the portal, this typically means that your company has a firewall set up to prevent use of this type of communication tool.

To be sure that this is the case, you should check with your company's system administrator regarding the firewall settings. If, after checking with your system administrator, you find that there are no settings in place to inhibit access to WebCT, please complete the tech support form so that we can address your issue as quickly as possible.
