| La
Salle University is providing a scholarship in its evening
division to residents of the City Council’s Eighth District
in Northwest Philadelphia, represented by Councilwoman Donna
Reed Miller. The University already provides a scholarship
for district residents who attend the university on a full-time
basis in its day division.
Applications
for the evening division scholarship are due by August 1.
In addition to being a resident of the district, applicants
must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in the undergraduate
evening program at La Salle. If currently enrolled, the applicant
must be in good academic standing. A personal essay is also
required.
The
amount of the scholarship will be assessed on the applicant’s
financial situation. It is possible that more than one scholarship
will be given.
“This
is one more way we want to demonstrate our commitment to the
surrounding neighborhood,” said Ray Ricci, Vice President
for Enrollment Services at La Salle. “The La Sallian
tradition has always been one of helping people improve their
lives through education, and this scholarship certainly meets
that tradition.”
