La
Salle Welcomes 846 Freshmen and New Programs
for 2004-05
846
freshmen will begin their college education as La Salle University
starts its fall semester. Estimated total undergraduate enrollment
is 3,360; graduate enrollment is 1,725; and 936 students are enrolled
in the University’s Continuing Studies program. This is the
largest campus-wide enrollment since 1990, and the largest undergraduate
enrollment since 1992. Overall, campus-wide enrollment has grown
20 percent in the past seven years.
Demand
for University housing gone up dramatically-- 63 percent of undergraduates
live on campus. This increase has led La Salle to begin building
a residence hall and dining facility on its South Campus. Construction
is on schedule and the facility, which will house 430 students,
will be completed in June, 2005.
Some
“new” developments on campus this fall include: the
University’s 14th graduate program, an MA in history, starts
this semester; La Salle’s is offering its Master of Arts in
Clinical Counseling Psychology at Gwynedd-Mercy College in Gwynedd,
Pa. (La Salle has offered its Master’s in Business Administration
program there for several years.)
And
this summer, the University’s program in Speech-Language-Hearing
Science received full accreditation from the Council on Academic
Accreditation in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology of the
American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
