Christian Brothers Establish Hurricane Relief Fund
La Salle University stands in solidarity with our Lasallian sisters and brothers who continue to suffering from the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina. As a University Community, we will be responding in many ways. Primarily we will hold these colleagues of ours in prayer before God who alone ease their pain. God works through us to do much of the healing, and while there will be many ways that we can and will be asked to help over the next several weeks, monetary donations are one way we can all help right now.
The Christian Brothers National Office is coordinating all of the efforts that Lasallian Ministries will be offering to help with the effects of the Hurricane. Among these efforts is the creation of a Hurricane Fund, which will be used by our colleagues in the New Orleans area to help with their own relief efforts.
For the next several weeks, the collection taken up at the Sunday evening liturgy will be directed toward this fund. Students involved in FOCUS will also be helping to raise funds. If you do not attend this liturgy, you can donate to the fund by stopping at the University Ministry and Service office, lower level of college hall. Checks should be made payable to “Christian Brothers Conference” with a memo line, or separate note, indicating that it is for the Hurricane Fund.
