Author to Sign Copies of La Salle History
Jeffrey LaMonica, an alumnus and member of La Salle’s History Department, will be signing copies of his book, La Salle University, at Barnes & Noble at 18th and Walnut Streets in Philadelphia, on June 15 at 7 p.m.
The 128-page book features hundreds of photographs tracing the history of the school, from its locations in the 19th century to the campus today.
There are chapters on “firsts” at the University, such as the first woman to teach at La Salle, and the first “drama club” organized on campus. A chapter on sports features the well-known (Tom Gola and Joe Verdeur) and the little known (the football team went undefeated in 1934). Visitors pictured at La Salle include then-Senator John F. Kennedy, Hubert Humphrey, and Muhammad Ali.
