Play Written by the Late Pope John Paul II to be Performed on Campus
The Theophany Catholic Theatre Company will be performing one of two local presentations of The Jeweler’s Shop on Saturday, October 14 at 8 p.m. in La Salle’s Dan Rodden Theatre.
The Jeweler’s Shop was written in 1960 by Karol Wojtyla, who later became Pope John Paul II. Drawing on Wojtyla’s extensive experience with married couples, the play focuses on love and relationships. Each of the play’s three acts follows a different couple: a happily married couple, an unhappily married couple, and a couple who is about to marry.
Theophany is a nine-member community theater group comprised of Catholic artists dedicated to the renewal of culture through dramatic arts. The performers use few props and limited music and lighting in order to bring the characters to life.
Co-sponsored by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Immaculata University, and
La Salle University, The Jeweler’s Shop is free and open to the public.
Reservations are closed. All seats have been filled.
A performance of The Jeweler’s Shop will also be held on Friday, October 13 at Immaculata University’s Alumnae Hall. For further information about Friday’s performance, please send an e-mail message to sgalligan@immaculata.edu. |
