Glenn is President and Chief Executive Officer of American Cities Foundation, an organization committed to the development and implementation of national urban policy and to defining a new relationship between cities and the federal government.

A leader in community service, Glenn was appointed by Philadelphia Mayor John Street to the School Reform Commission in 2002. She one of five commissioners committed to providing a quality education in the School District of Philadelphia.

According to Dana King, a 1993 La Salle graduate and President of the African American Alumni Association, Glenn was selected as this year’s recipient because of “her advocacy and passion for properly educating Philadelphia’s children.”

Warren E. Smith, for whom the award is named, was one of the first African Americans to graduate from La Salle’s pre-med program. He served as the University’s psychologist for 15 years before retiring in 1984.
