Zuzelo came to La Salle University in 1997 where she rose through the ranks to full professor in 2007. In addition to teaching numerous nursing undergraduate and graduate courses, she also serves a joint-faculty position at Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she is the Associate Director of Nursing for Research. Zuzelo’s nomination included accolades from colleagues and students such as, “a fervent scholar and avid researcher,” and “relentless in her pursuit of nursing excellence and expects nothing less from students.” The Lindback Award caps off a very exciting academic year for Zuzelo. In the fall, she was named the top nurse researcher in Pennsylvania when she was honored with The Nightingale Foundation Nursing Research Award. Zuzelo’s book, The Clinical Nurse Specialist Handbook was published earlier this year. The handbook addresses the specific, practical, day-to-day responsibilities and challenges of the clinical nurse specialist. Zuzelo, of Warminster, Pa., earned her doctorate of education from Widener University. She received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and she also earned a certificate in business administration from Penn’s Wharton School. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Pennsylvania State University. With the generosity of the Christian and Mary Lindback Foundation, La Salle University has been bestowing the Distinguished Teaching Award since 1961. Zuzelo now joins the long list of La Salle faculty to be recognized for their excellence in teaching. La Salle’s recipient is selected by a committee consisting of students, faculty and administrative representatives who base their decision on nominations solicited from the University’s full-time faculty, and undergraduate and graduate students. |
