What’s So Special? For Jenna Cardaciotto, Everything in Her New Position as Assistant Director of University Events at La Salle
There is no shortage of special events at La Salle – from a small party to thousands attending Commencement. So imagine how Jenna Cardaciotto felt when on the second day of her job as Assistant Director of University Events, the school held its opening Convocation for incoming freshmen and their families.
“I got to see what the job entails,” said Cardaciotto, who lives in Manayunk (and will move to the city’s East Falls section soon). “There are so many details to consider in an event, things that people might not think about.”
Some details she has since dealt with include choosing the right color tablecloth to flower arrangements and making sure they’re in the right place.
Currently, she is helping plan an Athletic Department auction, during which a reception is held and people bid on donated items that will support the La Salle Explorers athletics program. She also is helping to organize Family Weekend, Open House, and Homecoming, which will take place next month. “I’m really looking forward to working with the people who organize alumni events to plan a memorable occasion,” Cardaciotto said.
Cardaciotto graduated from West Chester University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. She previously worked at McDonalds Corporation as a Marketing Coordinator in the Philadelphia area. Her responsibilities included planning grand re-opening celebrations and ribbon-cutting ceremonies. She arranged entertainment for the children, such as balloon artists, caricaturists, and Ronald McDonald himself. Cardaciotto joked, “Ronald McDonald has been my best friend for the past two years.”
However, Cardaciotto was looking for a different focus in her career and became interested in the position at La Salle, where her sister, Dr. LeeAnn Cardaciotto Adam, is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology. “She really enjoys working at La Salle, and I knew from her experience that it would be a great opportunity to work here,” Cardaciotto said.
“I feel that my position at La Salle is a perfect fit,” she said. “I value the La Salle community, and I find contributing to student life and adding to the student and alumni university experience very rewarding.”
“I’m excited to work with Julie Morrison, the Director of University Events, the faculty, staff, and the different departments on campus. Everyone here has been wonderful and very helpful,” she said.
