La Salle to Honor and Remember Those Who Died
on September 11, 2001
La Salle University will commemorate the seventh anniversary of 9/11 with a series of events:
Beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, students and the University’s grounds crew will plant more than 2,700 American flags on the main quad area – one for each person who died in 2001.
On Thursday morning, the University’s bells will be tolled four times on 9/11 at the times when the attacks occurred.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, there will be a vigil, sponsored by La Salle’s Students’ Government Association and the University’s Army ROTC Detachment, beginning in the De La Salle Chapel. A screen with the names of all victims will be situated behind the altar. Later, the vigil will proceed to the quad area for remarks from La Salle University President Br. Michael J. McGinniss, F.S.C., and student leaders, as well as a presentation of the colors, and musical selections by the La Salle Singers. |
