Henstenberg says the problems of overweight and obese children can be found in their diet (filled with too much sugar, particularly soft drinks and juice drinks), and a lack of physical activity (too many video games and computer use).

She is a registered dietician and has been a nutritional consultant for the Pennsylvania State Early Intervention Programs. She also held several positions in pediatric nutrition at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
