Today’s topic is JavaScript.
Reading is HTML, XHTML & CSS Chapter 19 and Chapter 20. And (optional) Exploring Dreamweaver CS4 Chapter 13 (behaviors), Chapter 14 (Spry widgets). There are lots of sites and resources that deal with JavaScript, often under the heading of DHTML (e.g. Javascript.com ) which has a link to easy cut-and-paste scripts at JavaScriptSource.com. Some other standards include:
- Dynamic Drive with free scripts
- The Top Ten scripts according to About.com.
- Website Abstractions with good Q&A and scripts
- Tutorials, free scripts (from javascriptcity.com) and other links from PageResource
- Links to get pre-built JS code also from Builder.com (formerly C|NET) and Scriptsearch.com and java applets from Anfy.
- A basic tutorial from Web Teacher
Most important, understand the code behind this demo that I put together using mainly pre-defined functions, following the Castro book. And look at this file to see how to debug a JavaScript (and Dreamweaver) error.
