Today’s topic is searching, and sources. Reading is HTML5 and CSS3 Chapter 21. We’ll look at these links in class on Web browsing, search engines, directories:

- A great archive of old and new browsers you can test at evolt.org
- A page to get stats on use of browser, resolutions, color-bit depth, etc. (but only for its own site) at W3 Schools. [Disclaimer: Please also see w3fools.com where they mention this shortcoming among many others.]
- Same thing but a bit more global site: StatCounter
- Search engines and how to use them from SearchEngineWatch, the site about search engines.
- A useful series of articles on search engines from About.com
- Yahoo!, used to be only a directory, as opposed to Google or Alta Vista, an index created by robots or spiders (try the Images search).
- Try some specialty searches in search.com from c|net, and try a meta-search engine such as Dogpile or The Mother of All Search Engines.
