As you might have guessed from the statement at the top of the page you are
visiting with a Botanist. I have diverse interests and teach Genetics,
Evolution, Field Ecology, Principles of Ecology, Botany and some of the
majors' introductory Biology. Presently I am working to establish La Salle as an Arboretum. Although the project is in
its infancy, work is fairly far along on identifying the woody plants (trees,
shrubs and vines) of the campus and some of the plants have been labeled. To
find out more about this project and access the current checklist, click on
ARBORETUM in the menu at the bottom of this page.
Teaching is my primary interest and duty. I
have been at La Salle since 1969. When time
permits I work on the La Salle Arboretum
project, Flora of the Penllyn Natural Area and the biology of the upper
Wissahickon Creek. I have collaborated with Robert Allen Smith at The
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
on plant tissue culture (Taxus, Nicotiana).
