Continental Airlines operates a fleet of 629 aircraft between its mainline aircraft and regional aircraft. The mainline aircraft are all Boeing aircrafts, numbering at 355 by the end of 2006. The mainline aircraft include the Boeing 737 family of aircraft, specifically the -300, -500, -700, -800, and -900, the 757 family of aircraft, specifically the -200, -200 Domestic, and -300, the 767 family of aircraft, specifically the -200 and -400ER, and the 777-200ER. Continental is planning on expanding its fleet with the purchase of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The regional aircraft are operated by Continental ExpressJet which will operate 274 aircraft by the end of 206, including the Embraer 135, 145, and 145XR.
Continental has recently retired the remainder of its aging MD-80 fleet as well as its DC-10-30 fleet, which was replaced by the boeing widebodies of the 757, 767, and 777. Continental continues to be able to claim it has one of the youngest fleets in the industry with most aircraft dating back to only the late 1980s.
Within this section of the website there is information about each family of aircraft operated by Continental broken down by company. Included are also several photos to help distinguish the differences in aircraft.
