Gackt can be best described as David Bowie’s illegitimate Japanese son. He is wildly popular among the fan-girl community, has changed his look more times than Michael Jackson, and is considered to be one of the most influential musicians in Asia today.
Gackt started his career in the media as an actor in a popular soap opera before joining the Goth rock group “Malice Mizer.” During his time with the band, he wore elaborate costumes that both flaunted his body and makes us all beg the question “its that a guy?” His voice is very mellifluous and went well with Malice Mizer’s musical style at the time.
He then, after months of performing with the band, left and embarked on a solo career. This would prove a smart move for the talented Camui and made him a house hold item in the Japanese music industry. He has produced dozens of mini albums and singles since his departure from Malice Mizer and shows no signs of slowing down.
