Shield - protection afforded by membership Sanguine - (color closest to maroon) loyalty to the death Star - three attributes of fraternal friendship: loyalty, integrity, and valor Scales - equality and justice Chevron - used to represent the gables of a house, symbolizes service to home and homeland (service to one's fellow man) Crest - part of the design above the shield Torse - (twisted ribbon of alternating sanguine and white) stands for inspiration of high ideals Clasped Hands - Friendship all over the world Scroll - (Gamma Sigma Sigma in Greek) one must prepare a sign of prudence and the reputation of doing good deeds
