Recognizing the availability of the many career opportunities in the insurance industry and related fields, La Salle University offers students the option to study and pursue a minor in Risk Management and Insurance (RMI). The Finance Department within the School of Business Administration administers the RMI Program.
In 1982, La Salle first began to offer the option of a concentration in Risk Management and Insurance to the students of our undergraduate day division. One of the missions of the RMI Program is to interest students in the field of risk management and insurance and to prepare students for a career in the field. We strive to accomplish our mission through solid classroom instruction, participation in cooperative education and/or internship programs, and extracurricular activities in the Gamma Iota Sigma National Collegiate Risk Management and Insurance Fraternity.
Since the program's inception approximately 210 students have graduated with a minor in Risk Management and Insurance. Most of these students have careers in the insurance industry or related fields. Our graduates are working in various capacities including underwriting, claims, sales, brokerage, financial consulting, and risk management. Many are pursuing professional certification in the insurance field such as CPCU, ARM, CLU and LOMA.
