The Things I Enjoy
- Bagpipes
I play the gaita, which is the type of bagpipes found in Northwestern Spain in the state of Galicia. There is a very close tie between the Scottish/Irish bagpipes and those of Galicia. Traditionally, the wood cane used for making reeds in the British isles came from Spain. Many tunes and styles sound the same. However, the are major differences in key, size and volume (loudness).
- Animals (llamas, ferrets,
etc.)
Enough said.
- Classic Movies (film noir)
I love classic old movies from the silent era up through more modern artistic movies which rely heavily on the past for film technique and style. My favorite director is Hitchcock and along with him, my favorite composer is Bernard Herrmann (although John Williams is up there on my list. He'd be number 1 if it weren't for the striking similarities between Holtz's "The Planets" and many of the "Star Wars" themes).
- Computer Games
My one true vice. I enjoy destroying things when I am stressed or am feeling particularly "guyish". I enjoy most of the Lucasarts games (even though some of the coolest aren't available for the PC), Dune 2000, MDK, Shogo and MechCommander/Mechwarrior.
