the other items.
-
If you have not already done so, visit the course site on La Salle's BlackBoard system. Log in using your MyLaSalle credentials. (BlackBoard may also be accessed by logging into
MyLaSalle and clicking
on the BlackBoard icon.) Go to the "Discussions" section, and post a brief introduction of yourself in the "Welcome" discussion forum.
-
Also on the class BlackBoard site: There is a survey posted in the Assessments section
titled "The Rest of the Schedule", which gives you the opportunity to rate
which topics you are most interested in covering this semester. You don't have to fill that out immediately - it is due on 9/22 - but you might want to start
thinking about it.
-
Go to the Mastering Astronomy
website, and register using the access code provided with the text book.
Join the class LASALLEGEO154FALL2011. (If you bought a used copy of the
book without a valid access code, you can purchase access to the online site
for $40.20 when you register,
or $74.70 if you want access to the e-text. Be
sure to choose the correct text - Astronomy Today, 7th edition - if you are
purchasing access online!) Once on the website, you can:
- Complete a "practice" homework assignment that is designed to help familiarize
you with the online assessment system.
- Complete the homework assignment for next week. You may either complete
your homework assignments on the website, or turn them in on paper. (You will
want to complete the reading first!) Homework is optional but strongly
reccommended.
- Take the online quiz for next week.(You will
want to complete the reading first!) Quizzes are required.
-
Visit the "external" course site on my La Salle web site. This site duplicates some of the material on the BlackBoard site (the course syllabus, schedule, and this assignment, for example), but also includes lots of additional material that I have not yet migrated into BlackBoard. You can reach this course site directly, or through the "External Class Site" link in the "Web Links" section of BlackBoard.
Thanks.
