La Salle's earliest efforts to organize former students in 1880 and 1889 were followed by periods of inactivity. In 1916, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania granted a charter of the "Alumni Association of La Salle College of Philadelphia." The membership was open to former students of all four departments of La Salle College (collegiate, high school, commercial, and upper elementary). In 1929, each of these four departments relocated to more spacious accommodations at 20th Street and Olney Avenue. By 1935, steps were taken to create a separate Alumni Association for the Collegiate Department. This was accomplished the following year in which the following list begins:
