Michael Raczynski, ‘73 - Board Member

for Student Affairs

Involvement as a student:  
I was very involved with La Salle as a member and Chairman of the College Union Committees which was responsible for most of the student programming on campus including: movies, dances, speakers, coffee house, etc. I also served as student night manager in the College Union.

Post Graduation Involvement:
Although living in Alabama and serving as the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs for Student Facilities and Finance at UAB, I have remained interested in La Salle affairs.

I have served the community in the following ways:  UAB Retiree Association Board of Directors, Treasurer; Boy Scouts of America; Alpha Lambda Delta; Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity Pi Delta Chapter Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees;  Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity Outstanding Campus Interfraternity Service Award; Outstanding Young Men in America in 1978 and 1981-84.

I have also been active with St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.  Participation has included:  New Sanctuary Construction Furnishings Committee member; Pastoral Council Vice President, Facilities Commission Member; Renovation Committee Member, Boy Scout Committee Member and Charter Representative, Eucharistic Minister, Pastoral Council Transition coordinator, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Money Counter, Funeral Sacristan, and Knights of Columbus member.

I have also served as Birmingham Chapter Team Member for a support and ministry recovery program for separated, divorced and widowed persons.

Why would you like to serve on the Alumni Board?
“With my extensive university experience, I would like to offer my knowledge and experience in student services/ affairs to the Alumni Board.”

Michael’s current term expires in 2021.
