About our Executive Director

An experienced business leader and entrepreneur, Steven Melick has been creating businesses for more than 20 years.

Melick founded Moda Technology Partners in 2005 and was President until 2010, when it was sold in an all-cash deal to Lonza Group, a worldwide manufacturer and supplier to the pharmaceutical, health-care, and life sciences industries. Prior to its acquisition, he helped Moda raise $8.5 million in venture capital, establish its financial and operations infrastructure, implement a product-delivery organization, and manage all of its human resources, legal, and IP concerns.

Moda was a spin-off of Melick’s previous company, The Sycamore Group, where he was founder, President, and CEO from 1996 to 2006. Various industry media outlets recognized Sycamore for its rapid growth and regional success. Sycamore was sold to a local competitor at the time that Moda was launched.

Melick serves on the Ben Franklin Technology Partners’ Technology Advisory Committee, holds committee positions for the Society for Information Management, and is an active member of various local entrepreneurial groups, including Philly Startup Leaders. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Drexel University.
