Dr. Carl McCarty has been a member of the La Salle community since 1957. He was a student of the High School and College and has been on the faculty since 1965. During that time he has taught all but one or two of all of the courses that the mathematics department has offered during the last half century. Although primarily a teacher over that time he has published in and refereed for the Proceedings and Transactions of the American Mathematical Society and has been a reviewer of over a hundred and fifty scholarly publications in the fields of Complex Analysis and Combinatorics for Mathematical Reviews (another publication of the American Mathematical Society). His fields of interest include Univalent Functions, Fibonacci Numbers, Combinatorics and Problem Solving. He has published several articles in those topics and has conducted independent study courses in similar topics. He is a past winner of the Lindback Award for distinguished teaching and has held the rank of Full Professor of Mathematics since 1980. He has taught courses in the MBA program and presently teaches mostly mathematics courses for Business majors.
