University faculty are experts in their academic discipline, but many have never received any instruction or mentoring in pedagogy. The Pedagogy 101 series provides introductions to key pedagogy topics and themes. Are you struggling with classroom management? Do you want to try some active learning strategies, but aren’t sure where to start? Are you looking for new ways to support your students in the classroom and during office hours? Please feel free to suggest additional topics for future meetings.
- Pedagogy 101 (Articles / Videos / Podcasts) NO ONGOING COMMITMENT REQUIRED. Each month, we’ll tackle one or two short articles, videos, or podcasts that explore a discrete teaching strategy that could be implemented quickly without requiring a course redesign. You can attend all the sessions, or just pop in when you time allows and when the topic interests you.
- Pedagogy 101 (Book) REQUIRES AN ONGOING COMMITMENT. Each month, we’ll read a chapter from a book on higher education pedagogy. Registered participants will receive a copy of the book in advance of the first meeting. Subsequent books will be chosen with input from the cohort.
