Matthew J. Fischetti has been teaching at La Salle University since 2012. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Political Science from La Salle in 2007. He went on to earn his Master of Arts in Spanish from Temple University in 2011. His primary concentration was applied linguistics with a secondary focus on early modern transatlantic literature. He is currently finishing his doctoral studies at Temple where he continued his study of applied linguistics and Spanish American colonial literature. His dissertation analyzes the effects of inductive instruction as means by which to introduce culture and literary texts in a Spanish grammar lesson.

His research interests in adult second language acquisition include the effect of context of acquisition—such as study abroad and immersion programs—on second language learning as well as learners’ writing in the target language. His research has focused on classroom instruction and formulating new ways in which to present culture and grammar in the foreign language and second language classroom.
