Moving forward, together and by association

A message from the Office of the President

Tim O'Shaughnessy

Dear Explorers,

“Together and by association” has taken on new meaning for all of us over these last two years. This well-known Lasallian principle calls us to remain united for the mission of Lasallian education. It also calls upon us to support one another in new and different ways. To accept a shared responsibility. To push boundaries. To be innovative.

Even with so much change, including my appointment as interim president at my alma mater, La Salle University is resolute in its commitment to our students. The delivery of high-impact teaching and learning capable of transforming lives is our unwavering promise.

For that reason, and several others, it’s an exciting moment in time for La Salle University. Encouraged by the success of last spring, we returned to a full-capacity on-campus experience for this fall semester. Leadership changes are afoot: The search for our next full-time President, the 30th in our nearly 160-year history, is well under way. And last summer, we welcomed an experienced higher ed administrator and student advocate Gabrielle St. Leger, Ed.D., as our Vice President of Student Development and Campus Life.

Even with so much change, including my appointment as interim president at my alma mater, La Salle University is resolute in its commitment to our students.

In recent months, we piloted an exciting and unique dual-enrollment program that is capable of closing the college enrollment gap that exists among Philadelphia high school students and reducing the cost of a college education. And as you have come to expect, La Salle University has earned impressive rankings again from U.S. News & World Report.

I encourage you to read more about the latest developments in this edition of La Salle Magazine. I also welcome you to stay engaged with La Salle. Speak with and mentor our students. Visit our campus. Participate in alumni events. See for yourself why we are excited about what the future holds for us right here at 20th and Olney.

St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts forever.

Sincerely,

Tim O’Shaughnessy, ’85
Interim President
