New beginnings

A message from the Office of the President

Daniel J. Allen, Ph.D.

Dear Explorers,

Undeniably, it is the highest honor of my professional life to serve as La Salle University’s 30th President. Since the first days of February, upon learning the Board of Trustees had selected me for this distinguished role, I have had the opportunity to participate in some of the University’s most-celebrated annual events, including Charter Dinner and, just recently, our annual Commencement exercises. Explorers everywhere have welcomed me with open arms. You have greeted my family and me with warmth and hospitality, and we are eternally grateful.

Arriving in Philadelphia as soon as possible has been my priority. I wanted to waste no time in beginning my service to this remarkable community of educators, learners, and passionate alumni. While I am in my earliest days at La Salle, I confidently can express to you that our most important work awaits. I look forward to working with you and the rest of the La Salle community to chart the path forward for the next chapter of our university’s future.

This process includes finding moments to connect with members of our La Salle family. I want to meet you, listen to you, and learn from you. This process will continue in the months ahead and into the new academic year.

Until then, I hope you will view this edition of La Salle Magazine as an opportunity to get to know me, my story, and my path to La Salle University. My orientation to the Lasallian charism began at Lewis University. All these years later, the privilege to serve a mission-oriented institution with which my personal and professional virtues align is deeply humbling.

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Allen, Ph.D.
President
