quigley_350x450iLa Salle cross country and track and field alumnus Sean Quigley, ’08, finished 11th in the 121st Boston Marathon on April 17 with a time of 2:15:34. Quigley was one of 12 runners chosen to run with the John Hancock U.S Elite Team, which includes medalists from the Olympics and the World and Pan American Championships. He was selected this past January after a ninth-place finish at the Olympic Trials in California. He entered the Boston Marathon with a time of 1:05:07 at the Houston Half Marathon in January, finishing 23rd overall.

At La Salle, Quigley earned nine individual Atlantic 10 titles and guided La Salle to three conference cross country championships. The long distance runner received five All-America accolades in his four years on the team (three in track and field and two in cross country).

He was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection and earned Most Outstanding Rookie in 2003. Quigley received A-10 Most Outstanding Performer in both 2005 and 2006, which is tied for the most by a La Salle runner.

Quigley set the school record in four events (indoor 3k, indoor 5k, outdoor 5k, outdoor 10k) and was twice the USTFCCCA Student-Athlete of the Year. He was inducted into La Salle’s Hall of Athletes in 2014.
