Zarrilli, ’83, assumed his new role as Chair of the University’s Board of Trustees this July. Zarrilli, who has served on the Board since 2012, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., a growth capital provider in Wayne, Pa.

He succeeds William R. Sautter, ’71, President and Chief Executive Officer of Elliott-Lewis Corporation.

“This is an important time in La Salle’s history and in the rapidly changing higher education industry,” said Sautter, who served as La Salle’s Board Chair for nine years. “Steve brings many strengths to his role as Chair of La Salle’s Board of Trustees. Among those strengths are keen business acumen, a deep respect for the mission and values of the Christian Brothers, and a commitment to advancing the University.”

A former certified public accountant, Zarrilli has built quite a versatile career over the past three decades. Having served as a chief financial officer and chief executive officer for a number of public and private companies, he has distinguished himself in executive strategic, financial, and operational roles.

Zarilli has also contributed a substantial amount of time serving on a variety of community-based nonprofit boards and is excited about his new role as Board Chair.

“I believe we’re ready to tap into the next generation of La Salle alums to call upon them for service with the University—through opportunities like being a member of the Board of Trustees or being involved with the Alumni Association,” Zarilli said. “I’m also looking forward to finding new ways in which we can solicit their support and input in crafting the future for La Salle and its long-term betterment.”
