Can students who did not major in History gain admission to the program?
Students whose undergraduate major was in a discipline other than History will be considered for admission as long as the major was in a related discipline.
Can students be admitted into the program as a non-degree student?
Students who choose to take graduate courses without the intention of earning the M.A. degree must enroll in the Certificate Option, which features 4 courses with a specialization in either American, European, or World history.
What is the average GRE score required for admission to the graduate program?
The average GRE score for the Graduate History Program is a combined score of 300. Keep in mind the GRE is only one component of the application.
Is financial aid available?
Financial Aid is available in the form of Federal Direct Loans.
Does the program offer any tuition discounts for practicing teachers?
Those teaching in a Catholic School within the boundaries of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Dioceses of Allentown, Camden, Trenton and Wilmington are eligible for a 30 percent discount.
When are courses offered?
Graduate courses in history will be offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Courses are offered in the evenings and on Saturdays. Normally, all courses are capped at 18 students to facilitate individualized attention from faculty. La Salle offers classes on the main campus in Northwest Philadelphia.
