Shakeya Foreman, J.D., joined La Salle University in December 2018 in the Office of Human Resources, for which she serves as the Employee and Labor Specialist. In her role, she conducts internal investigations under the University’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Harassment Policy, Title IX statement, and hazing and whistleblower policies. She consults on employee conduct issues, employment policy development, and compliance. She is an attorney, mediator, conflict coach, and facilitator who
has spent considerable time facilitating workshops on conflict resolution, bullying prevention, managing unconscious bias, and cultural competency. Prior to joining La Salle University, Foreman was the Director of School Climate and Safety for the School District of Philadelphia where she helped District leaders tackle issues of bullying and harassment. For six years she also worked as a restorative justice practitioner utilizing a holistic approach to convene circle dialogues and interventions in Philadelphia communities, churches and schools.
Foreman holds undergraduate degrees in Government and African-American Studies from the University of Virginia. She went on to receive her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law, where she won several institutional awards for her work studying the collateral consequences of criminal convictions on individuals and communities of color. She completed Harvard University Graduate School of Education’s Race, Equity, and Educational Leadership Program where she learned how to lead conversations about race, power, and equity in school communities.
