Return-to-campus Plan: #ExplorersReturn

La Salle University is planning for a return to an on-campus, residential experience for the Spring 2021 semester with a mix of in-person and remote courses.

Here’s what you should know:

Academic planning

The spring semester will include a mix of course modalities based on physical space constraints due to the classroom capacity guidance from the City of Philadelphia. The University is cognizant and respectful of the learning preferences of students and the needs of the faculty and staff for remote work accommodations. For most programs, students will be able to choose an entirely remote learning experience.

Housing and Dining

The University’s on-campus housing will be open for students. A number of on-campus residential options exist for students in the spring semester. Applications must be completed by Nov. 2. Selection for dining plans begins Dec. 2. Indoor dining will be permissible and de-densified, in alignment with guidance from local and state officials.

COVID-19 testing strategy

The University is evaluating a wide array of options for testing for our campus community. The testing strategy for Spring 2021 will be announced by early December at the latest.

Contact tracing

Timely and effective contact tracing is critical to mitigating the spread of the virus within a university setting. La Salle has strengthened its internal contact tracing procedures and capacity. In addition, the City of Philadelphia has invested resources in their ability to support contact tracing efforts on college campuses. New technological developments, including exposure notification apps, show promise as potential complements to the contact tracing efforts. These developments are being explored fully and will be vetted by the University’s return planning team before a recommendation for implementation comes forth.

More information is to come as the University continues its planning. Until then, be sure to read the full announcement.
