Student expectations for COVID-specific guidelines
Last updated: 7/1/2021
As we work to resume an in-person experience, it is important to be aware that La Salle University policies and/or expectations can change at any time as the COVID-19 virus develops or changes.
La Salle University will closely monitor the guidance from the City of Philadelphia, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the CDC. In the event that any policies and/or expectations change, students are expected to abide by them.
During this pandemic, individual behavior on and off campus can have a big impact on the broader University community. As a student who is choosing to return to campus (or off-campus housing) to learn and/or live, you are accepting responsibility to personally behave in a way that prioritizes the health and safety of our entire community. This includes complying with the Vaccination Requirement (or have been approved for an exemption), and that you are being mindful of the guests you bring into the campus and surrounding community. For example, unvaccinated individuals are recommended to wear face masks at all times (including outdoors), and it is the responsibility of students hosting guests on or near campus to adhere to this guidance.
We are asking all students, faculty and staff to lean in and support these guidelines on and off campus in order to keep our community safe and well.
As with all University expectations, students who do not follow these COVID-19 policies and guidelines may be subject to student conduct action at the discretion of the Office of Student Conduct.
Submit your COVID-19 Vaccination Status Certification or Exemption by August 6. Students may submit their certification or exemption request here. Students who do not comply with submitting their certification may be restricted entry into university facilities and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
Wear a cloth face mask whenever you are indoors, which includes being inside buildings as well as being on public transportation such as a subway or a bus. Ensure that the mask is covering your mouth and your nose. Please see the Face Coverings section of the Health Guidelines for more information. Students who do not comply with wearing a mask may be restricted entry into university facilities and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
Physical distancing. Students are expected to observe a reasonable physical distance from others during in-person interactions. Students who do not respect physical distancing may be asked to leave university facilities and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
Large gatherings. Students are expected to follow the University’s guidelines regarding approved gathering size. Students who host gatherings in excess of approved gathering size should expect to have those gatherings dispersed by Public Safety and/or the Philadelphia Police Department and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
Individuals referred to the Office of Student Conduct for non-compliance with these expectations should expect to be charged with a violation of one or more of the University Policies that can be found in the Student Guide to Resources, Rights and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Refusal to Comply
Violation of Law
Violation of La Salle University Policies
Enforcement and documentation:
Enforcement of these guidelines will need to be a community effort, not solely the responsibility of Residence Life or the Office of Student Conduct. All members of the University community should feel empowered to ask one another to wear a mask or observe physical distancing. If students refuse to comply with such a request, or need to be repeatedly reminded of these guidelines, any member of the University community can file an Incident Report available in the mylasalle Portal.
To report an incident of a faculty or staff member not abiding by these guidelines, please contact Human Resources at firstname.lastname@example.org.
