Program Overview:
Spend a semester studying and living in the City of Light. You can study either the fall or spring semester at the Catholic University of Paris, Institut de Langue et Culture Francaises (ILCF), taking French language courses and courses in English toward your major, minor, elective, or general education requirements at Lewis.
The Paris program is coordinated by the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS), an organization that has been running study abroad and other international programs since 1964. While in Paris, students will have the chance to study French Language intensively in the heart of the city while learning about the vibrant culture of France.
Admission Requirements:
Sophomore status or higher; 3.0 GPA or higher
Courses Offered:
No previous knowledge of French is required to participate in the program. You are required to take between 13 and 16 credits during the semester. Depending on their language level and interest, you will take 6-12 credits in the French Language. For the remaining credits, you can choose from a variety of courses offered in either French or English from the university.

In Paris you will be a paying guest in a Parisian home where you will have a double or single room in your host’s apartment. You will have a key and can come and go as you wish. There is privacy for study, yet a certain amount of contact with the Parisian hosts. You are likely to be housed with a single woman or professional couple. Students are seldom housed with families with young children.
In many homes, you will only have the use of the bedroom, bathroom and limited use of the kitchen. Parisian hosts do not usually allow free use of the entire apartment. It is important to understand the differences between American hospitality to foreign students and renting a room from a host in Paris. Most Europeans provide housing to foreign students for commercial reasons. Students should not assume they will be included in the daily life of their Parisian hosts.
Breakfasts are included in the program charges. AIFS also offers supplemental meal plans, which are not part of the Lewis program charges.
Cost:
If you are a student at one of the US Lasallian universities or colleges, you will remain enrolled at your school and pay tuition and program fees there. Tuition is based on your campus tuition rates and may include an additional surcharge depending on the program. Contact the person on your campus responsible for study abroad.
The program charge includes Lewis tuition, housing for a homestay, breakfasts, on-site orientation, program-sponsored excursions, medical insurance, and a mandatory $300 Lewis Study Abroad fee.
The program charge does not include airfare, passport and visa fees, additional meals, supplies, and personal expenses. Supplemental meal plans are available through AIFS.
Program charges are based on costs of the prior year, as well as projections for the current and coming years. Inflation and fluctuating exchange rates make it difficult to state a fixed cost. Lewis University, therefore, reserves the right to adjust program fees and the right to cancel or alter programs and courses.
