La Salle ranks among best universities and top value propositions nationally

La Salle University is ranked among the top-half of universities in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report, which also ranked La Salle highly for value and social mobility, and in multiple undergraduate programs.

In U.S. News’ Best Colleges rankings, released on Sept. 12, La Salle is ranked No. 202 among institutions that are identified as national institutions. That places La Salle in the top-half of all institutions ranked and No. 1 among Lasallian national institutions in the U.S.

This is the University’s first year of eligibility for U.S. News’ ranking of national universities, having previously been ranked among regional universities. The publication classifies national universities as those with a spectrum of undergraduate majors, and master’s and doctoral programs, and that recognize faculty scholarship as part of strengthening the rigor of the academic experience for students.

“It is gratifying to find La Salle University in the company of so many exceptional colleges and universities from across the country.”
—President Daniel J. Allen, Ph.D.

“This recognition from U.S. News & World Report is a testament to the rigor of our academic programs, the high quality of instruction and scholarship from our faculty, and the transformational outcomes we provide for our students,” said President Daniel J. Allen, Ph.D. “It is gratifying to find La Salle University in the company of so many exceptional colleges and universities from across the country.”

Earlier this year, La Salle ranked highly in return on investment, or ROI, showing a degree from the University appreciates in value at a rate that ranks among the best in the nation.

That’s according to recent data analysis by Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce (CEW), which published its findings in a report published in 2022 titled Ranking 4,500 Colleges by ROI.

The study, which analyzed nearly 4,500 institutions, found tremendous value in the short- and long-term for La Salle alumni. The 10-year earnings of La Salle graduates placed the university in the top 6% nationally and the lifetime ROI of a La Salle degree ranks in the top 7%, according to the study.

In its study, Georgetown rated each institution using a metric called NPV, or net present value. NPV assesses how much a sum of money in the future is valued today. Georgetown’s CEW calculated NPV using a host of metrics, including an institution’s net price, classification by the Carnegie Commission in Higher Education, graduation rate, and students’ seven-year repayment rate.

For La Salle graduates, the NPV of their degree increases significantly over time. The return on investment of a La Salle degree soars into the top 14% nationally after 15 years, moves into the top 9% after 20 years, and inches into the top 7% after 30 years and top 7% after 40 years.
