While the average lifespan of an independent fraternity is just six years, Sigma Phi Lambda recently celebrated eight decades. More than 200 alumni brothers returned to campus on May 30 for the 80th anniversary of La Salle’s first-ever fraternity, an independent.

sigma_phi_lambda_circleAfter Mass, a cocktail hour, and dinner, the alums formed a traditional Brothers Circle to sing the Brothers’ Song, written and composed by Thomas Lynch, ’62. Many of the brothers also stayed for an after-party in the Union.
